HOST FAMILIES NEEDED
Could you host our students? We are looking for local people and families (located within 20 miles of the school) to host our students during May half term (Saturday 24 May to Sunday 1 June 2025) and possibly at other times throughout the year.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a young person’s journey and to provide an insight into life in a British household and for a mutually beneficial cultural exchange. It is an important part of their studying experience and is invaluable to their mastering of the English language. Being a host family is a unique, rewarding, fun and educational experience for all members of the family and an opportunity to create long-lasting friendships.
To become a host family we would ask you to accept certain responsibilities for the students’ wellbeing and comfort. We ask that you take in 2-4 students, who can share a room but will need their own bed. You will be generously remunerated for each student you host of £50 per night.
If you are interested and would like more information, please see the Application Form and Guidance for Hosts documents. Alternatively, email Siân Macey at sianmacey@rikkyo.uk, or call 01403 822107.
Rikkyo School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
The Lead Host must be aged 25 or over and all members of the household aged 16 and over will be subject to vetting checks and be required to undertake safeguarding training.
We are unable to accept hosts who have lodgers or guests staying during the hosting period.
All host family accommodation will be inspected as required by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in relation with the Independent Schools Standards Framework and the National Minimum Standards for Boarding. We will require you to have a gas safety certificate (where applicable). We will be looking for warm, comfortable, safe and hygienic conditions conducive to relaxation and some study.
